Government affirms to bridge Kenya's housing gap by providing Affordable Housing Units
NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 25...The Government Spokesman Dr. Isaac Mwaura in a press briefing has said that Affordable Housing Program (AHP) is transforming lives of Kenyans by enabling access to dignified amd affordable homes with construction ongoing at 75 sites in 37 counties with various houses nearing completion.
Over 124,000 homes are at affordable prices to a wide range of income groups be in access adding that home ownership is now possible for Kenyans contributing as little as Ksh 3,200 per month.
"With social, low-cost and mortgage gap earners all able to participate through the Boma yangu platform where over 547,000 Kenyans have registered", said Dr. Mwaura.
The Affordable Housing Program (AHP) is designed to bridge country's housing gap by providing affordable housing units to Kenyans across three key income brackets with social housing monthly income upto KES 19,999, Low-cost housing KES 20,000-49,999 and mortgage gap housing KES 50,000- 149,999.
This follows a court rulling affirming the affordable housing program (AHP) to providing affordable housing to benefit kenyans.
"Over 160,000 jobs have been generated across the country with Ksh 4.4 billion allocated for local artisans and fabricators supplying building materials, the inclusion of recognition of prior learning (RPL) in the program is empowering skilled youth and women providing them with certification and steady employment", stated Spokesman.
