The internet we want empowering all Kenyan people

 


Nairobi, Kenya June 23...The Kenya internet Governance Forum (Kenya IGF 2023) brought stakeholders and different people from different sectors in a hybrid forum on discussion of the future of internet in the country and its impacts 

 "The internet we want empowering Kenyans"  theme of the years forum to ensure good use of internet and safety as well while promoting research,education,social media interaction and connection among people in various places, in addition the emergence of Artificial intelligence (AI) was discussed as many people have been left worried amid the performance of it as people worried that they might lose there jobs  as the new technology being rolled out 

While delivering keynote speech mercy ndengwa said " At meta we have tools and resources on account safety accessible for everyone on platform"

since there have been increased in cyber threats being experienced in the country thus there is need to curb the incidents to ensure online safety of users of various accounts being hacked and takeover the team urged its users to enable Two factor Authentication as this is a total security feature that ensures the safety of  the account user 

As the government takes charge of the internet in the country there are no restrictions as it is an open resilient internet in the country for the users to access and make use of it 

UK aid Charles Juma Digital Access program coordinator said that there is need to have a responsible internet access for kids

"We need to view AI and emerging technologies as tools that aid us in performing tasks" Engineer John Tanui PS, state department of ICT and Digital economy said during the forum

KICTANet is facilitating community networks for local communities through Angaza networks, capacity building and decentralization of public participation ,in addition there are plans to train 10,000 in digital literacy skills including people with disability in a bid to bridge the digital divide gap
