CS Murkomen issues directives after a fatal accident in Londiani juction

A truck veered off road in londiani junction, Kericho county crashing into several vehicles before colliding with Traders and pedestrians, CS Transport Kipchumba Murkomen has issued directives following the tragic accident which claimed at least  52 lives 

Hours after visiting the place Murkomen condole with the bereaved "I wish to express my heartfelt condolences to families, friends and relatives of those who lost there lives and wish quick recovery to those recuperating in various hospitals" said a statement by Murkomen on Facebook 

All markets along the road reserve should be relocated urging county governments to partner with National Government to construct markets off Highways ,in addition the ministry through its agencies to revise speed limits in the area and construct bumps 

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) to install speed detection cameras as the place has been put on spot following the tragic accident and ensure enforcement of traffic laws and regulations

Murkomen further urged the ongoing re testing of Public Transport vehicles (PSV) and commercial  service vehicles drivers to continue as a way of accessing competency before a renewal of driving licenses, moreover the ministry in consultation with various stakeholders to finalise development of NTSA operation of commercial service vehicles regulations

In addition all 47 counties, through County transport safety committees to embark on road safety education and awareness programs for traders, motorcycle operators, pedestrians and school children, moreover the National Police Service in partnership with National Transport  and Safety Authority to intensify the anti drunk driving operations across the country 

Consultative meetings between the ministry of Transport and East African Community to be held to guide operation of Motor vehicle inspection in the region 

"I call upon all the motorists to be careful on the roads for there safety and that of other road users "added Murkomen
