New dawn as Afrikonekta launches 1$ bus booking platform

Nairobi, Kenya August 16...Afrikonekta has unveiled a 1$ countrywide intercity digital bus booking platform which allows passengers to book tickets at a tab of button
 
Tichaona Dande , Afrikonekta CEO says that the platform seeks to build a connected Africa, broader and deeper regional and continental integration 

"It was created to build a connected Africa , provide customer focused low cost and smart and great value travel which is convenient to book and use" said Dande

It targets long distance bus operators with routes from and to Nairobi and other towns 

The service can be accessed on an app, web, WhatsApp or a toll free phone call which allow travellers to book their tickets, chose seats and pay digitally which in turn cuts the need of visiting bus booking stations 

Mobile money , Credit or debit cards and electronic bank transfers are accepted as payment methods 

In addition it covers 37 destinations which include Mombasa, Moyale, Nakuru,  malindi, Busia, Bungoma, Butere,  Siaya,  Homabay , Kapenguria, Bondo, Kisii , Oyugis, Kitale , Nyamira, Kisumu and Eldoret among others

The startup has signed about 22 bus operators including Msamaria mwema, 
Nya ugenya, Salama bus, Transline kemera sacco, promise buses, We travellers sacco, Eldoret express among others 

Subsequently the network comprises of 1000 trips per day,  282 stops with over 1, 126 signed up vehicles ranging from 7 to 62 seaters 

Furthermore it plans to sign up more players launching its operations in Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Rwanda by early 2024 to expand its East Africa Connectivity, Continental coverage and strengthen its inventory of partner operators
