Worldcoin suspended in Kenya

Nairobi, Kenya August 2…The government through the Ministry of Interior and National Administration with immediate effect suspends activities of World coin in the country

The government is concerned by the ongoing activities of an organisation calling itself ‘WORLD COIN’ which is involved in the registration of citizens through collection of eyeballs and iris data

In addition, the statement further says that Relevant security, Financial services and data protection agencies have commenced inquiries and investigation to establish the authenticity and legality of the activities, the safety and protection of the data being harvested and how the harvesters intend to use the data

“Accordingly, the government has suspended World coin and any other entity that maybe similarly engaging Kenyans  until relevant public agencies certify the absence of any risks to the general public whatsoever “said a statement by Ministry of Interior

Subsequently appropriate action will be taken on any natural or juristic person who furthers, aids, abets or otherwise engages in or is connected with the activities afore described
