Climate experts and stakeholders convoke as they seek neat framework for implementation of FLLOCA program

Nairobi, Kenya September 5...Stakeholders from across the country convened at a national conference to provide space for the exchange of experiences , perspectives learning and scale up on practical lessons 

Inclusive of challenges faced by communities, governments and funders in promoting locally-led climate action with a specific focus on financing locally led climate action (FLLOCA) programme in Kenya

ActionAid Exucutive director Susan Otieno urge for need for transparency and aaccountability are respected to ensure community has access to locally led climate Action 

Most importantly it should be noted that the program has successfuly disbursed KSH 979 million under the county climate institutional support grants to 45 and 44 counties respectively since its inception in 2021

Mithika mwenda exucutive director PACJA reiterated that there must be a protocal to be followed to ensure that communities have access to funding which should enable them address impacts of climate change urging that no one should be left behind in the participatory process of the programme 

"The FLLOCA program design provides a bold and innovative bottom up decentralization of climate financing as well as decision making , thereby empowering the lowest units which at the grassroots led communities in each of Kenyas' 1450 wards to take charge if the process of identification , planning and implementation if climate action based on existing climate risk" said President Ruto during FLLOCA Cheque handover at the start of ACS 2023
