Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) tells its customers to remove private equipment and long stay empty containers from port of Mombasa

NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 23...The Ports Authority in a notice to its customers said its Undertaking a port clean up exercise to free the yard areas and to maximize use of all spaces to enhance safe and efficient operations.

"Following an equipment survey exercise conducted in the port of Mombasa, it has been observed that there are privately Owned idle equipment, stalled vehicles,tools and long stay empty containers lying idle within port premises and in sick bays" reads the Customer notice.

Owners have been urged to make arrangements for their evacuation from the port premises within 14 days from the date of the notice and required to make payment of all charges due to the Authority prior to their evacuation.

"Failure to comply with the notice, The ports Authority will dispose off the equipment, long stay containers in accordance with the Kenya ports Authority Act to defray any charges due in their respect without any further reference to owners" reiterated KPA.
