NAIROBI,Kenya, May 1...Religious leaders from the National Council of Churches of Kenya (NCCK), Kenya Conference of Catholic Bishops (KCCB) and the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) convened National Dialogue Conference on 29 to 30 April 2024 at Ufungamano House, Nairobi to review NADCO report presented to parliament by National Dialogue Committee as well as attendant parliamentary bills.

They urged that reform process be people driven calling National Assembly Speaker  Hon. Moses Wetangula and Senate Speaker Hon. Amason Kingi to make reform process put in motion by the NADCO people driven while making the report accessible to all Kenyans to understand what is being said about their future.

"We urge for a joint Justice and Legal Affairs Committee to visit all 47 counties to receive feedback from the citizens and use the feedback to review the report and proposed legal and policy reforms, and ensure comprehensive Nationwide public engagement on the bills of Parliament that are being tabled" reads a Statement.

The religious leaders called to urgently constitute the IEBC saying that it is a breach of constitution of Kenya has now gone for 16 months without a properly constituted commision adding that kenyans should be involved in constitution review discussions calling up parliament to put in place legal framework of the process to be people driven.

"We call upon President William Ruto and all concerned stakeholders to speedily conclude recruitment of IEBC commissioners, it would be prudent to separate this process from other political discourse due to the magnitude of the risk that the lack of IEBC portends to the country"

Additionally they encourage the parliament to take Two third gender rule seriously urging the parliament to put in place a framework for attainment of the constitutional provisions safeguarding the inclusion of the youth and persons living with disabilities in governance and decision making organs.

"We encourage Kenyans to actively engage in the ongoing reforms process, take time to read the reports and attend public participation forums".
