PS Dr. Omollo announces security measures ahead of festive season, urges citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement officers

NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 4...The Ministry of Interior and National Administration lead by Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo with other security heads have issued security  measures ahead of the festive season to citizens and visitors while noting that the season is filled with celebrations, social gathering in shopping malls, recreational spaces and outdoor entertainment events and need for security heightened in place.

Dr. Omollo added that a robust Multi-Agency security plan has been activated with enhanced security coverage at entry and exit points including airports and boarder crossing, hotels and shopping places, Public beaches, tourist sites and heightened traffic control to address reckless driving.

"A total of 10, 317 officers from National Police Service, Kenya prisons service, Kenya wildlife service, Kenya Forestry service and the Kenya coast guard service have been deployed to manage public safety and address violation, Kenyans should be prepared to see more police presence:, stated PS Omollo.

In addition all police officers who are on leave have been directed to resume duty with immediate effect and not later than December  5 2024, National Police Service  in conjunction with National Transport  and Safety  Authority (NTSA) to enforce compliance of traffic rules by all private motorist and commercial passenger vehicles.

All regional  and county security committees with National  Police Service have been directed to put in place measures to ensure safety of local and international tourists visiting resorts and Inland tourist attractions sites,National  parks and game reserves.

The National alcohol control committee have been urged to activate nationwide crackdowns on drugs and illicit brews with  other security committees to put in place measures to prevent and manage inter communal conflicts in the festive season.

Furthermore, proprietors of shopping malls, entertainment joints and events organisers have been urged to coordinate with area security teams to ensure enhanced security arrangements as well as augment private security measures already in place to handle large crowds effectively.

"We urge all citizens to remain vigilant and to cooperate with law enforcement officers during the entire festive season to ensure safety of all Kenyans and especially the vulnarable communities  including children, women and persons living with disabilities", added Dr. Omollo.
