7th RCMRD conference kicks off in Nairobi


Nairobi, Kenya August 8...Regional Centre for mapping of resources for development  (RCMRD) International conference 2023 kicks off, running from 8-10th August in Nairobi, Kenya 

The conference's main pillars are Land Management; Policy and Development, Agriculture and Food Security,  Biodiversity Conservation and Blue Economy and Innovations and Data 

Among the participants are Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia among others 

Data and information are received, generated and shared  every day to aid decision making at both individual and institutional levels. The key discussion at is on the usability of the data generated.

"Science and policy are inseparable. Evidenced based research provides the spotlight for informed policy decisions. From climate change to food security, the rhythm of progress is set by the harmony of data-driven insights and  governance" said Sheku Mark-EPA

"For far too long, third world planning and policies have been based on external models. It is time to set our own agenda of scientific exploration and research, valorized by mobility, partnership and collaboration. '' Said Dr Bachir Saley

The 3-day conference is expected to host over 800 delegates drawn from different parts of the world with an aim of discussing the Space of the community 

subsequently emphasizing the importance of utilizing geo-science for effective policy implementation
