SDG summit launches new phase of accelerated action on Sustainable Development Goals

NAIROBI, Kenya Sep 20...World leaders agree to urgently step up there efforts to deliver  the sustainable developement goals (SDG) as global roadmap out of crisis by 2030

Leaders adopted a decisive, action oriented  political declaration at the summit highlighting their collective commitment to build a sustainable, inclusive and prosperous world by 2030 with a strong focus on the means of implementation and in particular on financing on development 

"I am deeply encouraged by the detailed and wide ranging draft political declaration under consideration here today especially its commitment to improving developing countries acess to the fuel required to SDG progress" stated UN secretary general Antonio Guterres

In addition over 100 countries will present national committments to SDG transformation and areas of investments setting national benchmarks for reducing poverty and inequalities by 2027 and strengthening institutional frameworks to support SDG progress

Subsequently with UN high impact initiatives which focus on six major transitions that will create a momentum of action in the coming years among them are  social protection, energy, Education, Food systems, Digital transformation, Biodiversity and nature underpinned by greater financing and other supports as well as action to advance gender equality
